CENS staff are Substance Use Disorder (SUD) counselors who serve as a liaison between individuals involved with government and community partners (i.e. probation, the courts) who may be in need of SUD treatment and other ancillary services. The target population includes individuals who are involved in the criminal justice system, the uninsured/underinsured, the homeless, and clients with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. Services include: Outreach and Engagement, Eligibility and Enrollment for public benefits, SUD Education-Screening- Appointment Scheduling, Service Navigation and Linkage, and Agency/ Community Education.

BHS operates a CENS Hub at our South Bay Outpatient location, and co-locates staff at Harbor/UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, the Long Beach Probation Office, the Long Beach Court House, and the Villages at Cabrillo in Long Beach. Additionally, CENS Outreach teams serve Central City East (Skid Row in Los Angeles), Venice Beach, and the San Gabriel Valley Riverbed.
