Patterns Grandmother Program

Patterns Women's and Children Residential Treatment Program has developed a unique component to their treatment services.  On Thursday, October 18, 2001, Patterns implemented its "Grandmother's" Program.  The grandmothers have voluntarily taken on the enjoyable task of reading, drawing, coloring and doing other special activities with the children.  This project is significantly needed in this type of program.  There is a high percentage of children coming from dysfunctional homes who are looking for that extra love from a grandmother.  Thanks to Krista Emery, Director of South Bay Senior Services, we do not have to look anymore.  Krista played an integral role in identifying and implementing the grandmother's program, along with Chynethia Boyd, Program Director and Yolanda Green, Child Development Specialist of Patterns.  This collaborative project is working well and we now have a waiting list of grandmothers willing to participate in this exciting activity.  Patterns continues to welcome the surrounding communities to support us in our efforts.
