BHS holds Galas and other fundraising activities yearly to raise monies to assist our programs and people needing help.  In 2006, in honor of American Recovery Center's 20th Anniversary, BHS held its first Hour of Hope.  On Thursday September 14, 2006 numerous supporters came together at the Sheraton Suites Fairplex in Pomona to raise funds for American. 

Since 1986, American has helped over 30,000 Addicts and Alcoholics.  They also provide services for:

• Individuals with Co-occurring disorders (since 1993)
• Individuals with HIV/AIDS (since 1994)
• Pomona Drug Court (since 1999)
• Women and men with children, allowing children (up to age 10) to enter treatment with their parent (since 1999) 

Contracted funds received by American do not cover expenses such as inflation, building maintenance, or cost of living.  Contracts, while still requiring the same services originally negotiated in 1986, are currently reimbursed as much as 14% less. 

During Hour of Hope, Administrator Booker Bledsoe and Master of Ceremonies Robert Douglas made special requests for the following items:

• Paint and carpet for the women with children's hallway- $3600
• Remodel and replace fixtures in six bathrooms, including shower pans, vanities, etc.- $4000 each
• The creation of a Children's Learning Lab and Activity Center- $11,000
• Playground equipment- $7000
• Remodel of lobby restroom to ADA standards- $9000
• Ten hospital beds for the Detox unit- $425 each
• Furniture for the Detox group room- $2500
• Replacement of a 1998 15-passenger van- $32,500
• Toaster conveyor oven- $1000
